Are You Being Focussed And Creative, Or Are You Making Excuses?

By admin On June 30, 2010 Under General

Hello all,

I have a few things to say: first of all, this is not the article I intended to post here now. Its also late.

Now, I could go on and make excuses about how I had to take my parents out on Saturday afternoon for lunch, or how I wanted to watch the Grand Prix race on Sunday and how they both “sort of took over the entire day” – which is completely true.

But neither of them – nor any of the other myriad things that “happened” in my life up ’till and after my publishing schedule time – will cover as an excuse. The simple fact is, nothing will. I goofed. OK,  so it’s not the crime of the century and I do actually own my own business but I “lost” half a week before I got properly caught up. How much is that worth? Way more than it would have cost to record the Grand Prix, that’s for sure!

Almost everyone reading this is either in business in the make money online or LOA or Prosperity niches, or is wanting to get started doing that by blogging, using Twitter and so forth. Here is the lesson I learned this week: NEVER, EVER lose your focus! It s just so easy to do! One minute you’re setting up to reply to somebody on Twitter or do some admin work on your blog, get creative and expand your notes into an article or whatever and WHAM! the next minute you realise that the clock has shot forward 30 or 60 minutes with no work completed because you got sidetracked by the readily available wide world of the Internet!

Does that ever happen to you? It has happened far too many times for me to be comfortable with and the weekend shook me because what was a couple of hours’ pleasant diversion actually cost me days of lost production!

Here’s the thing, and I’m sure the same applies to most of you in one way or another: we all struggle to find any spare time in our lives these days, let alone quality spare time to spend with friends and loved ones in these lovely summer months. For me the answer os focus. laser-straight, well defined focus with “something” to help me stay on track. Not just a day planner, I already have 2 or 3 of those!

To this end I discovered Simpleology and signed myself up for the free account, and the free daily practise emsils which will help me set timelines, make priorities, find time for all of the “other stuff” and generally run my life more efficiently. I’m absolutely convinced there are other similar programmes out there which do similar things but this one was my choice.

My advice to you is to either sign up for Simpleology as an honest referral from me (neither they nor I will ever know that you signed up from my recommendation!) or to take a little of that precious commodity, time, and explore for something that suits your needs better or that you feel more comfortable with. But please do it for the sake of your own valuable timeand of course the pleasure we will all get from spending that freed-up time doing whatever we want!

Hit me up in the comments, tell me your experiences with the various systems out there and yout tips and techniques to overcome writers’ block and distractions.

We’ll speak later

Allan

Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!

I appreciate your input, guys. Thank You very much for the comments, apart from the nice ego-massage (hey, we all like those!) on a more serious level it helps me to know what kinds of posts you get some value from.
As for the search engine, I’m working on that!

Great stuff, I hope to catch you farther down the blog.
